Electric Locomotive Workshop
set up at Bhusawal, Central Railway in the year 1974 at the cost of Rs 3.52 crores. It is the most prestigious workshop of electrical department of Indian Railways. ELW Bhusawal does the periodic overhauling of all type of electric locomotives including 3Ø locomotives. ELW Bhusawal is the only workshop where POH of 3Ø locomotive is being done. ELW-BSL is an ISO 9001:2008 certified workshop and ELW BSL had POHed 140 locos in the year 2006-07, and at present target for 97 nos of POH locos for the year 2013-14.


ELW family consists of 13 officers and approximate 1300 staff. ELW-BSL has framed its Vision, Core values, Mission and focus areas and works accordingly to accomplish the targets with the set standards.


Brief  History of ELW-BSL


vElectric Locomotive Workshop was set up at Bhusawal, Central Railway in the year 1974 at the cost of Rs 3.52 crores.

vThe initial POH capacity of this workshop was 3.33 locos per month (40 locos per year).

vLoco No. 20930 WAG-4 of S.E. Rly. was first Electric Locomotive turned out in August 1974.

vRecabling of electric locomotive was started in the year 1975.

vThe outturn capacity of the workshop was subsequently increased to 80 locos per year in the year 1984, 120 locos per year in the year 1986, and 126 locos per year in the year 1999.

vIntroduced New Incentive Scheme in September-1999, increasing POH capacity to 11.2 locomotives per month.

vThis workshop have so far done POH of WAG-1, WAG-2, WAG-4, WAG-5, WAG-7, WCG-2, WCM-1, WCM-5, WCAM-1, WCAM-2, WCAM-3, WAM-4, WAP-1, WAP-4 , WAP-5, WAP-7 & WAG-9 class of locomotives.

vThe workshop was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification on 13th December 2001.

vThe first 3-phase technology Passenger type locomotive having Loco No: 30007 WAP-5 of N. Rly. was POHed in this workshop in June 2002.

vThe first 3-phase technology Freight type locomotive having Loco No: 31005 WAG-9 of E.C. Rly. was POHed in this workshop in August 2003.

vThe first 3-phase technology Freight type locomotive having Loco No: 31314 WAG-9H was assembled in this workshop in February 2012.
