Can I pay the registration charges for a special train by cheque?
No, all payments are to be made by cash to the Station manager of the journey commencing station or Demand Draft in favour of Chief Cashier/Central Railway, CST MUMBAI at the Cash Office CST MUMBAI.
Can I tender my application by hand?
Yes. In addition to receiving applications by post, applications are received between 1100 to 1700 hours on working days at the main Receipt and Dispatch cell of COM’s Central Railway HeadQuarters’ Office,CST MUMBAI.
What kind of coaches can I requisition?
You can apply for Sleeper Class Coaches , AirConditioned(Three- tier, Two-tier, First class),First Class, Tourist Cars & General second class coaches.(Please see "Regulations for Booking of Special Trains/coaches" link for details of coaches/rake availibility)
What do I do if I want to requisition a Special train/Coach at short notice?
In case you wish to requisition a special train/coach/coaches at short notice, i.e. less than 30 days notice, specific permission must be obtained for this from the Chief Passenger Transportation Manager. It will be the sole discretion of the Railway administration to allot a special train/coach/coaches and programme its movement, depending upon the availability of coaches/locomotives/paths and other operational considerations.
Can I Change the Date of Journey?
Requests for change in the date of commencement of journey will be permitted subject to the Railway’s right to accept or reject such changes but not more than once. Request for change in the date beyond ten days from the original date of commencement of journey will not be accepted.
How many Special free Halts am I allowed?
You are allowed a maximum of two special free halts at enroute stations in each block of thousand kilometers journey or part thereof for the purpose of entraining and detraining of passengers, collection of water/eatables etc. The duration of the free halt shall be a maximum of 20 minutes wherever feasible.
What is the basis of allotment of Special Trains/Coaches?
The applications received from various parties duly accompanied with Money Receipt for security deposit are registered on the basis of the time and date of receipt at the Head Quarter’s Office, CST MUMBAI. This forms the basis of registration on a first come first served basis. The criteria for allotment hence depends on the queuing status as well as other operating considerations such as availability of coaches/paths/locomotives and haulage confirmation receipt from the concerned Railways, further weather conditions also play an important role.
Quotas for number of Special Trains to be run and number of coaches to be attached are decided from time to time depending on the coach availability position. This can be confirmed from the office of the Chief Passenger Transportation Manager.
What is the method of identification of the members of my tour?
Organiser of the tour has to make out identity cards for the passengers along with the list of passengers and submit it to Station Manager of the originating station for countersign and stamp of the Station Manager.
