
INTRODUCTION
ON 15TH APRIL 1931 Solapur Medical division was formed with headquarters at Solapur building provided for the hospital could accommodate 10 patients at that time (old Building which housed TB ward today)
Hospital building was upgraded to accommodate 40 beds in the year 1959 with 8doctors.
Now the hospital has 89 beds and 14doctors. It was named after Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis who is the brave son of Solapur in 1976. Dr.Kotnis rendered his services and gave medical aid to the casualties during the II nd world war in China

7. TIE UP OFHOSPITAL
1) Ashwini Sahakari Rugnalaya and Research Centre Solapur is tied up for referral of emergency cases
and tertiary care cases.
2) Anand Rishi hospital Ahmednagar is tied up for investigation for Rly beneficiaries of Ahmednagar jurisdiction.
8. WELFARE ACTIVITIES:
- 2 Health check up camps are held at remote locations every month.
- Health education lectures are being organized at WHO nominated days.
- Reaching the Unreached-
-Special health check up programme for detection of chronic health
problems and precancerous condition of women.
-Conducted with the help of Mrs. Rama Swaminathan,
President/WSSC/SUR and under the guidance of Hon’able DRM Shri
K. Swaminathan.
-Assistance of Private Gynecologist was taken and expenses of Rs. 31,200/-
sponsored by WSSC/SUR.
-Health check up of 1141 working women and spouse of Railway employees
residing at remote location conducted from 18/8/10 onwards. 64 major problems
and 270 minor problems were detected. Minor conditions were treated on OPD
basis on the spot and were followed at
respective health units. Major cases were referred to Divisional Hospital.
6 Hysterectomies and 8 minor operations were performed at DRH/SUR.
9.HIGHLIGHTS:
Video conferencing is started between Solapur-Daund and Solapur-Wadi for consultation of patients by specialists of DRH/SUR from 07/1/2011.
