i) Calibration of Infra red Thermometers:
In compliance to HQ TSO for calibration of hand held infra red thermometer used for recording temperature of roller bearing of the coaches, a calibration bench is designed. The infrared thermometers are calibrated at various temperature ranges. The maximum error in the temperature calibration is up to ± 20 C.
ii) Booklet on LHB / Hybrid coaches and General Troubleshooting:
A “Technical booklet on LHB & Hybrid coaches and General Trouble shooting” has been prepared by the division. This booklet will help the maintenance staff at all the Coaching Maintenance Depots of Mumbai Division and will also improve their efficiency
iii)In order to avoid uncoupling of CBC of the coaches, following modifications have been incorporated in CBC of coaches of train No. 2289/90 CSTM-NGP Duronto Express after getting approval of HQ.
a) Provision of locking pin arrangement has been made in CBC. This design has the advantage of being simple and the locking pin being easy to engage/remove.
Moreover, a yellow band has been provided at the top of the rotary lever assembly and staff have been counseled to ensure that the same is visible which would indicate that the lock piece has dropped completely and CBC is locked. (As per RDSO instructions)
b) A Plate is welded on the back of the rotary lock lifter assembly for ensuring that uncoupling cannot occur without rotating the operating handle.
Ribs were welded to the rotary lock lifter assembly for ensuring that the locking pin cannot be inserted in CBC in open or partially locked condition.
c) Ribs were welded to the rotary lock lifter assembly for ensuring that the locking pin cannot be inserted in CBC in open or partially locked condition.
iv) Sensor Based Liquid Soap Dispenser :
First AC coaches of Wadibunder and Mazgaon depots have been fitted with sensor based liquid soap dispenser. When the hand is placed below the dispenser, there is an automatic discharge of predetermined quantity of liquid soap. This is a “NO TOUCH” method, which helps to maintain hygiene besides ensuring that liquid soap is available throughout the journey (round trip) of the train.
v) Control Discharge Toilet System (CDTS): Control Discharge Toilet System (CDTS), which was running on manual mode in many coaches has been made functional. The percentage working has increased from 68.18% to 96.27%. Warranty claim are being chased with OEMs.
vi) Automatic Coach Washing Plant: State-of-the-art Automatic Coach Washing Plant has been commissioned at LTT. Salient features of the plant are i) Exterior washing of a 24 coach rake is completed in 8 minutes as against approx 4 hours required for manually doing the same job, ii) water recycling plant incorporates ETP and associated pumping arrangement, resulting in 80% water getting recycled. Since otherwise also the water is more efficiently utilized, the overall net water consumption is around 8-10% of that required in normal manual cleaning process.
The Painted exterior of coach at the entrance becomes shabby over a period of time due to pasting of reservation charts on panel.
To overcome the problem, a detachable board made of LP sheet is developed and fitted on coach body for pasting of reservation chart on it. The board can be easily removed for cleaning and replacing it.
vii) Provision of board for reservation chart on coaches:
The modification was done in three coaches running on train no.1019/20 Konark Express in the initial stage.
